Nokia Lumia 928: Verizon gets another high-end Windows smartphone

After advertising material for the Nokia Lumia 928 surfaced a little early, Nokia dropped any pretense that the phone was still secret and has spent this week releasing additional 928 promotional content. Still, we’ve wondered when the wave would finally crest and we’d get a proper announcement and all.

There’s Nokia’s London event next week, but a UK event for a Verizon launch never made much sense. Instead, Nokia and Verizon have decided to play this one low-key, forgoing any formal press event and simply announcing the 928′s arrival this morning.

The Lumia 928 launch will come to Verizon retail stores on Thursday, May 16. The phone will run you just about $100 on a two-year contract. As we heard rumored, customers buying the 928 will also get a $25 app credit for use in the Windows Phone store.

The Lumia 928 features a 4.5-inch OLED Displays, a PureView camera with optical stabilization, Carl Zeiss lens, and xenon flash, and has built-in support for wireless charging.
